A Leap in Digital Transformation: ChorogUsan (ChildFund Korea) and KAPE Inaugurate Advanced Computer Lab and Handover Tech Equipment to 12 Target Schools
Date : 2025-12-03

Phnom Penh: On December 2, 2025, in response to the growing demand for digital skills and Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy in education, the “Improving Digital Education for All Learners (IDEAL)” project, funded by ChorogUsan for Children (ChildFund Korea), successfully held a handover ceremony for technology equipment and officially inaugurated a new Computer Lab at Prek Leap High School (New Generation School).
The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Namhee Yoon, Deputy Country Director of ChorogUsan for Children, and Mr. Hin Simhuon, Deputy Executive Director of KAPE, alongside representatives from the Phnom Penh Municipal Office of Education, Youth and Sport, teachers, and enthusiastic students.
Empowering Digital Infrastructure under the IDEAL project framework, 12 target schools have been upgraded to support modern teaching and learning methodologies:
The 11 target Schools received a technology package consisting of 02 LCD Projectors and 02 Laptops per school to facilitate multimedia-based instruction.
In addition, Prek Leap High School received a major upgrade with a newly renovated Computer Lab equipped with 36 desktop computers. This facility will serve as a hub for innovation, coding, and AI literacy, enabling students to gain hands-on experience vital for their future careers.
Ms. Namhee Yoon, Deputy Country Director of ChorogUsan for Children, expressed her vision that “The equipment we are handing over today—whether computers, LCDs, or this new lab—is not merely technical hardware. It serves as a 'Bridge of Hope' aimed at narrowing the digital divide for students who lack access. Through this support from Korea, we strongly hope that Cambodian children will not be left behind but will instead be empowered to seize every opportunity in this rapidly evolving digital world.”
Mr. Hin Simhuon, Deputy Executive Director of KAPE, highlighted the strategic importance that “Integrating technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy, into our education system is crucial for Cambodia’s educational reform. These resources will transform the classroom dynamic, shifting from traditional methods to inquiry-based learning and innovation. This is a vital investment to ensure our human resources are fully equipped with the skills needed for the 21st-century job market.”
This ceremony stands as a testament to the strong partnership between ChorogUsan for Children (ChildFund Korea) and KAPE in their mission to elevate digital education in Cambodia. This donation is more than just equipment; it is the key to unlocking new potential for thousands of students to become competent and responsible digital citizens.
