Phnom Penh: In a remarkable initiative to enhance the quality of education in Cambodia, the Improving Digital Education for All Learners (IDEAL) Project successfully organized a two-day Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Training on December 3-4, 2025. This pivotal session focused on the effective use of the Everybody Counts digital platform, representing a determined step towards innovative teaching and continuous improvement.
The training course was specifically designed to strengthen the capacity of 15 teachers from Grade 4 to 6, selected from five target primary schools in Phnom Penh and Kandal Province. The primary objective was to equip participants with modern teaching techniques that would not only make Mathematics more engaging and understandable but also fully address the complex demands of the 21st century. By participating in this session, teachers gained fresh knowledge and practical skills to transform traditional classrooms into dynamic, digital-enhanced learning environments.
The Everybody Counts digital platform, containing over 400 mathematics lessons for Grade 1 to 6, offers a wealth of benefits to the teaching community:
1). Increased Efficiency in Lesson Preparation: The platform provides comprehensive resources, including meticulously prepared teaching materials, well-grounded teaching methodologies, and various interactive activities. This support helps teachers save valuable time in daily lesson planning, allowing them to focus their attention on implementing the most effective and innovative teaching strategies.
2). Modern Digital-Based Teaching Techniques: Through the CPD training, teachers explored how to integrate technology into their daily instruction. They learned how to utilize the digital system to make lessons more creative, less tedious, and responsive to students' diverse learning styles.
3). In-Depth Teaching Approaches: The course provided clear insights into sequential teaching using the Concrete, Pictorial, and Abstract (CPA) concepts, which are key to helping students grasp complex mathematical concepts.
The participating teachers expressed great enthusiasm for the training and the Everybody Counts platform. Mr. Siem Yanna, a Grade 6 teacher from Neak Oknha Moha Peakdey Hun Neang Bak Kheng Primary School, enthusiastically shared that “This CPD training has truly transformed how I think about teaching Mathematics. The Everybody Counts platform is not just a digital tool; it’s a partner that fosters dynamic teaching and learning. I am particularly impressed by the material-supported instruction integrating Concrete, Pictorial, and Abstract concepts, which makes Mathematics a tangible and exciting experience for the students. Furthermore, I gained a clearer understanding of how to pose lower and higher-order questions to stimulate deeper critical thinking. The exchange of excellent experiences with colleagues from other target schools added immense value to my professional development. I now feel much more committed to creating an innovative and successful Mathematics classroom.”
During these two valuable days, teachers explored each Mathematics lesson within the Everybody Counts platform in depth. Through discussions, practical exercises, and the sharing of innovative teaching methodologies, they learned from one another, making a significant contribution to the development of their digital technology skills. This crucial training session was generously funded by ChorogUsan for Children, facilitated by KAPE, and conducted by the Everybody Counts company, all of which underscore a strong partnership that is bringing about significant positive change in Mathematics instruction and education in Cambodia.
