Empowering Educators: AI Literacy Training Equips Teachers at Thkov Primary School
Date : 2025-11-14

KAMPONG CHAM: Aiming to enhance digital competency and prepare for the technological era, an important training session on "AI Literacy" was organized on November 13, 2025. The training was supported by the AI Ready ASEAN project and led by project master trainer, Mr. An Sokheng, for 50 teachers at Thkov Primary School, located in Thkov village, Troib commune, Batheay District.
This training had comprehensive objectives to ensure all participants could:
- Deeply understand AI fundamentals: Master definitions, basic concepts, AI classifications, global trends, and practical applications in daily life.
- Cultivate practical skills with AI tools in education: Focus on increasing work productivity, creating innovative social media content, and developing interactive learning materials.
- Strengthen awareness of safety, ethics, and privacy: Build a mindset of using AI with high responsibility, security, and respect for privacy rights.
- Pave the way for careers in the AI era: Connect AI knowledge to new employment contexts and societal demands to ensure future competitiveness.
This training was not just theoretical; it was a clear demonstration of the future of teaching and learning. Artificial Intelligence (AI) was highlighted not as a replacement for teachers, but as their most powerful "assistant":
- Enhance work efficiency and productivity: Instead of spending long hours on repetitive administrative tasks, AI can help draft lesson plans, write test questions, summarize complex research documents, or prepare reports. This frees up valuable time for teachers to focus on direct student interaction and well-being.
- Unlock creative potential: Teachers can use AI to create new learning materials that previously required advanced technical skills, such as generating high-quality images for lessons, short explanatory videos, or interactive educational games, making learning more engaging, dynamic, and accessible.
- Transform personalized learning: AI can help analyze student learning data and create lessons tailored to each individual's pace, ability, and interests, ensuring that no one is left behind and every student receives the support they need.
During the training, participants explored nine key modules in-depth, including: (1) Introduction to AI Literacy for Educators, (2) AI Types and Classifications, (3) AI's Impact in Daily Life, (4) Fundamentals of AI Technology, (5) Prompt 101: Skills for Communicating Effectively with AI, (6) The Transformation of Education in the AI Era, (7) Strategies to Combat Misinformation, Disinformation, and Scams, (8) Basic Principles of Development and Creating a Simple AI Tool, and (9) Preparing for Future Job Opportunities.
This training became a crucial catalyst, helping teachers at Thkov Primary School understand and confidently use this new technology with ease. The session provided not only theoretical knowledge but also the confidence to experiment, create more engaging teaching plans, spend less time on research, and discover new knowledge—all to build a brighter future for their students. This session not only strengthened skills and knowledge for teaching but also developed personal competencies for navigating life in a digital society and for their entire families.
