From Tech-Anxiety to AI Leadership: The Transformative Journey of Mrs. Thien Dany

At Royal Crusade High School in Stung Treng province, Mrs. Thien Dany is a teacher who once viewed modern technology as a complex barrier. Previously, using a computer was strictly for administrative tasks or traditional lesson planning—a process that required hours in front of a screen, leaving her feeling that teaching was burdened by endless paperwork.

However, her professional life and daily routine reached a turning point after she participated in the "AI Literacy" training course under the AI Ready ASEAN project.

Upon understanding that AI is a technology that can learn and adapt, Mrs. Dany's mindset shifted completely. She no longer sees technology as something distant or intimidating. In her daily life, she has started using AI as a personal assistant—whether for finding health information, organizing household plans, or seeking creative ideas. AI has saved her from repetitive tasks, granting her more free time for her family and leisure, creating a work-life balance she never had before.

The most significant success for Mrs. Dany has been efficiency. Previously, creating a Lesson Plan was a tedious task involving manual writing or typing line by line. Now, with the help of AI, she can generate lesson outlines, create test questions, and prepare teaching materials rapidly and to a high standard. AI helps her research new teaching methods from abroad and adapt them to the context of her students in Stung Treng, ensuring lesson content is rich and never dry.

Beyond just text documents, Mrs. Dany has become a digital content creator for her students. She uses AI applications to generate images, short videos, and educational posters with vibrant colours that captivate students' interest. Classes that were once quiet have transformed into lively, interactive environments because students are amazed and engaged by the new visual aids she creates.

Ms. Dany’s joy and confidence have spread beyond the school grounds. She has become a resource at her school, demonstrating to other teachers how to use AI to alleviate their workload difficulty. She doesn't keep this knowledge to herself. She explains AI to family members and neighbours so they can stop fearing it and start using it for their daily lives. Crucially, she also educates them on how to be vigilant against technology-based scams. Her goal is to create a digitally literate community, starting with those around her.

"Before, every time I sat in front of the computer to prepare lesson plans or type documents, I felt stressed and exhausted because it took hours, and I always felt like I was lagging behind the digital age. But after getting to know and use AI through this training, my feelings have changed completely. Now, I feel like I have a smart personal assistant right beside me, ready to help organize teaching plans, create images, and find new ideas in just minutes. It allows me to use that saved time to focus on caring for my students and sharing love with my family and neighbors," said Mrs. Thien Dany standing to express her feeling in front of the whiteboard in her class.

"AI technology is not here to replace teachers; rather, it is a brilliant partner that transforms administrative exhaustion into valuable time for creating innovation for our students," continued Mrs. Dany.
