Speaker: Lisa Miller

With her husband and two children, Lisa left the cold and snow of Canada 16 years ago, and since then, has been living in her adoptive home, Singapore. Before returning to school to become a teacher in 2007, she spent ten years as a marketing executive at an advertising and public relations firm. After teaching in Canada and then as a Middle School teacher at the Canadian School, she is now Head of Libraries and the Teacher Librarian for the Secondary school. To Lisa It is the BEST job in the world, and it is an extraordinary position that allows her to combine her passion for education with her devotion to the development of literacies, from reading and writing to ethical information gathering and digital communication.

CPD Researcher & Program Coordinator

This capacity building collaboration is an outcome of the findings of a research project on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of LIS professionals initiated by Gina in 2019. The focus of the research is on countries that had limited research on the LIS sector, specifically, the status of CPD opportunities available to LIS professionals.  Two country studies on the Maldives and Cambodia have been conducted to date (Related publications). The collaboration with Maldives continued over 2021/22 through a series of webinars that Gina coordinated and featured LIS professionals from around the world and offered under the auspices of the National Library of Maldives. She was head of Singapore Institute of Management Library for over 25 years. 

 

Kampuchea Action to Promote Education (KAPE) is the largest local NGO in the education sector in Cambodia. KAPE implements projects and research at all levels of the education sector in Cambodia, with beneficiaries in primary schools, secondary schools, and tertiary programs. KAPE has a long-term partnership and close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), international organizations and local education partners.
