On 05th Sept 2023, KAPE organized a visit for the representatives from USAID and University of California Berkeley to meet and greet the KAPE girls’ tertiary scholars in NGPRC office, Phnom Penh.

In total, 12 female scholars have been selected to receive a four-year full scholarship support studying Information Technology and Engineering (ITE) at Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia, under the project of USAID project called Digital Workforce Development (DWD), and University of California Berkeley. KAPE receives funding from the Aisa Foundation to support 12 girls at university from 2023-2027.

It was a such great honor for the scholars to meet with Mr. Pen Chanda, Chief of the Party for USAID Digital Workforce Development Project and other colleagues. It was a very productive meeting, and the scholars could interact and share their experiences of being away from home to pursue higher education in the city.

The female scholars mentioned the extracurricular curricula they gained besides the courses at university. “I do appreciate being part of the scholarship students, funded by USAID. It is very worth my life journey. I learn to live, to share, and to be together as sisters and friends,” Ms. Nary, a year one scholar said.

She added that KAPE was the second guardian to be a supporter and counselor to all scholars living in a dormitory. We were encouraged to attend leadership training, to be volunteers to help society and to attend club studies to improve the subjects learned in university.

The visitors expressed satisfaction and encouraged the scholars to try their best to get good grades at university. They added that the scholars should access the USAID career center or American Corner to improve their reading habits.
