Workshop on the Leadership Development Module (ToT)

The Leadership Development Module (ToT), held from 23-26 June 2025 at Takeo Provincial Office of Education, Youth and Sport, aimed to empower KAPE and MoEYS trainers with the skills and knowledge to deliver the LDM Manual effectively. The training was organized to provide four key objectives as follows:

 

  • To enhance KAPE and MoEYS trainers' understanding of the LDM Manual and its methodologies.
  • To provide opportunities for trainers to practice and reflect on the LDM Manual and GESI content.
  • To enable effective use of the CDP Platform by trainers.
  • To clarify trainers' roles and responsibilities, equipping them with strategies to tackle potential training challenges.

 

The four-day training covered a comprehensive range of topics, structured to build knowledge and skills progressively:

 

  • Introduction to LDM: Background on the Leadership Development Program (LDP), Continual Professional Development Framework (CDPF), LDP Phase 2 objectives, and the LDM Manual’s structure.
  • Continual Professional Development (CPD): Understanding the CPD framework and its relevance to LDM.
  • Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI): Principles, integration into training, and logistical considerations.
  • Core Leadership Concepts: Lessons on leadership introduction, leadership vs. management, communication skills, mentoring, and project work.
  • Training Delivery Skills: Techniques for effective presentations, participant engagement, and ICT use.
  • Online CPD Platform: Hands-on orientation for platform management.
  • Addressing Challenges: Strategies for overcoming issues like limited internet access or heavy workloads.
  • Workplace Application & Feedback: Introduction to workplace projects and feedback mechanisms.
  • Training Logistics: Scheduling, participant grouping, and team coordination.
  • Team Assignment: Collaborative planning for training material preparation.

 

The training adopted an interactive and practical approach, incorporating:

 

  • Interactive Presentations: Engaging sessions with Q&A.
  • Warm-up and Energizer Activities: To maintain energy and foster a comfortable environment.
  • Practical Activities & Simulations: Focused on GESI and LDM lessons.
  • Group Work: Collaborative assignments for practical application.
  • Platform-Based Practice: Hands-on experience with the CPD platform.
  • Lesson Presentations: Opportunities for trainers to practice and receive feedback.
  • Reflection Sessions: Encouraging metacognition and learning integration.
  • Pre and Post-Tests: Assessing knowledge acquisition.

 

The training was highly participative, featuring:

 

  • Warm-up and icebreaker activities.
  • Practical group activities and​assignments.
  • Q&A sessions.
  • Lesson presentations with peer feedback.
  • Tips for increasing engagement, such as ICT use and activity diversification.

 

These methods ensured active learning and modeled engagement for future trainers. The participants gain:

 

  • Comprehensive LDM Knowledge: Deep understanding of LDM lessons.
  • GESI Competence: Skills to integrate inclusivity in training.
  • CPD Platform Mastery: Proficiency in platform management.
  • Enhanced Delivery Skills: Improved presentation and engagement techniques.
  • Problem-Solving Strategies: Tools to address training challenges.
  • Collaborative Planning: Experience in team-based material preparation.
  • Workplace Application: Linking training to practical scenarios.

 

The ToT was highly successful, meeting its objectives through a well-structured program rooted in adult learning principles. The comprehensive coverage of LDM content, practical sessions, GESI integration, and platform training provided a robust foundation for trainers. The proactive approach to addressing challenges and the use of pre/post-tests underscored a commitment to effective learning outcomes. The training has equipped KAPE and MoEYS trainers to become impactful facilitators of leadership development in Cambodia, contributing significantly to the LDP’s goals.
